Alicia Herrero è un artista visiva con sede
a Buenos Aires. Il suo lavoro comprende installazioni, video, performance,
disegni, dipinti, oggetti, immagini, collage, testi e progetti come Magazine
sito. Dal 2007 sviluppa LiPac - Laboratorio di ricerca in arte contemporanea
pratiche - CCRRojas-UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires). Si è laureata
all'Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte (IUNA) ex Prilidiano Pueyrredon
di Buenos Aires e ha partecipato a mostre in spazi quali: Van Abbemuseum,
Eindhoven, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires-Mamba, Museo Boijmans
van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst-NGBK-Berlino,
il Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Rosario; Shedhalle – Zurigo; Museo
del Chopo, Messico DF; Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Posadas, Centro
Cultural de España, Montevideo e Buenos Aires e in altre città
come Francoforte, Friburgo, Madrid, Rotterdam, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro.
È stata invitata a varie residenze, biennali ed incontri internazionali:
V Bienal de La Habana; Satélite Rethinking dissent, Göteborgs
4 - Internationella Konstbiennal; Biennale Fin del Mundo, Ushuaia. Nel
1996/97 riceve la borsa dalla Fundación Antorchas di Buenos Aires.
Nel 1999 si trasferisce in Olanda invitata dal Guest Duende Studios di
Rotterdam e da’ inizio al progetto Chat poi presentato presso il
Museo Boijmans van Beauningen; nel 2001-02 risiede nella Kaus Australis
nella stessa città, durante il 2001 sviluppa un progetto in Big
River 2 Trinidad (international artists´ workshop) che presenta
nel Caribbean Contemporary Arts- Port Spain; nel 2006 è invitata
a RIAA Ostenda e nel 2007 partecipa a Be(com)ing Duch - Eindhoven Caucus,
Van Abbemuseum di Eindhoven e y del Encuentro Regional de Arte en Montevideo.
Crea Magazine in situ-in corso dal 2004 - un dispositivo mobile in collaborazione
con autori, artisti e istituzioni varie. Fa parte di collezioni pubbliche,
tra cui: Mambo, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, MACRO, Museo de
Arte Contemporaneo de Rosario, il Centro Arte Contemporaneo Mendes, Rio
de Janeiro, Centro Wilfredo Lam, La Habana, oltre a diverse collezioni
private argentine ed internazionali.
She develops artistic practices that move between performance, actions,
video, installations and situational/social process in ongoing projects
and investigations. She uses resources and conceptual methods borrowed
from art and other practices such as courtroom drawings, developed of
graphics and economy calculations, theater, films, official documents
and tactical of law. Her works explore the limits of the artistic genres,
and introduces problems about the value conventions. She has been presented
in various shows including: Shedhalle, Zurich, Switzerland; Proa Foundation
(Buenos Aires) Argentina; Van Abbemuseum, (Eindhoven) Holland; Boijmans
van Beuningen Museum, (Rotterdam), Holland; Modem Centre for Modern and
Contemporary Art, (Debrecen), Hungary; Dispari & Dispari (Reggio Emilia),
Italy; MAMBA (Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art), Argentina; NGBK (Neue
Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst), (Berlin), Germany; Contemporary
Art Museum, Santiago de Chile; MACRO (Rosario Contemporary Art Museum),
Argentina; Caribbean Contemporary Centre, (Port of Spain), Trinidad &
Tobago; Contemporary Art Museum, (Posadas), Argentina; Spanish Cultural
Centre of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, Unuguay and Argentina. Others exhibitions
were present in Frankfort, Mexico, Madrid, Freiburg, Toronto, Río
de Janeiro, etc. She had participated in biennials, residences and art
meetings including the Art Biennial of Bogota, Modern Art Museum (2009),
The End of the World Biennial in Ushuaia, Argentina (2007), the 4th Göteborg
Biennial for Contemporary Art Rethinking Dissent in Sweden (2007) and
the 5th Havana Biennial in Cuba (1994). During 2007 she participated in
ERA (Regional Art Encounter) in Montevideo, Uruguay and in Be(com)ing
Dutch Eindhoven Caucus, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, Holland. During 2006
she participated in the RIAA (Argentine International Artists’ Residencies)
Ostende, Argentina, in the frame of Triangle Artists’ Workshop.
She undertook residencies in Holland in Studios Duende (2000) and Kaus
Australis Rotterdam (2001-02). In 2001 she was invited to participate
in the 2nd Big River International in Trinidad in the frame of Triangle
Artists’ Workshop. Since 2004 she launched Magazine in situ in different
cities (Montevideo, Quito, Buenos Aires, Usuhuaia, Beirut, Sao Paulo,
Bilbao, Rotterdam) and since 2007 develop liPac (Laboratory of Investigation
in Contemporary Artistic Practices) at CCRRojas UBA (Ricardo Rojas Cultural
Centre, Buenos Aires University). Her artwork can be found in several
public collections including: MAMBA (Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires);
MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art, Rosario); Wilfredo Lam Centre, Havana,
Cuba; Mendes Centre for Contemporary Art, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in
several private collections both in Argentina and abroad.
